HF623/SF538 PASSED: Prohibiting harmful "gender affirming" surgeries for Iowa children.

Updated: Mar 13, 2023

Legislation protecting Iowa children from dangerous surgeries and hormone treatment, moves to the governors desk with no amendments.

Representative Steven Holt gives us a breakdown of the BIG WIN and important bills that passed through the Iowa House yesterday.

"Thank you so much to all of you who responded to the call to action, your continued support makes such a huge difference." - Representative Holt

Tuesday night District 6 Republican Representative Megan Jones dropped two amendments for HF623 that would have effectively made the bill useless if they would have been adopted.

Fortunately they were ruled "not Germane" (not relevant) and the bill passed 57 - 40. Republicans came out strong yesterday.

Republican legislators made a promise that this session would be all about education reform and parental rights and they are working hard to deliver.

3/16 THIS WEEK AT THE CAPITOL: With Representative Helena Hayes

Iowans stepped up and contacted representatives that were on the fence about education bills with great results.

"This is just the beginning. We are going to keep coming against this woke agenda. Standing on goodness and truth." - Representative Helena Hayes

It appears that all but 5 representatives on our list voted AYE on 3 of the most important bills. Unfortunately, there were 6 Republican Representatives that voted against the legislation to protect Iowa Children. See the amendment and roll call vote for HF623/SF538 HERE.

These are the Republican Representatives who voted to continue dangerous "gender affirming" surgeries (meaning; breast removal, chemical castration, sterilization etc.) , and for allowing puberty blockers and cross sex hormones for Iowa children / minors.

Over the next few days I plan to reach out to our legislators and thank them for standing strong on these issues and pushing this legislation through. If you haven't already, we hope you will as well.

Many of our legislators reached out to thank those of you who emailed and called and did your best to be persistent in your efforts to make your voices heard. It made an impact! Thank you!!!

*Thank you for your support. Every little bit helps us continue to make an impact in protecting the rights and liberties of Iowans.
