02/11 This Week At The Capitol: With Senator Sandy Salmon

This is a great way to stay informed. In this episode Senator Salmon lets us know about what important legislation has been introduced to protect parental rights and the innocence of Iowa children and gives us an update on Tort reform and the Emergency Powers Bill.

Weekly Updates: We've got a little work to do.

HF 8 Monday February 13 @ 12:30 Room 19

Listen to a 4 minute breakdown and commentary on the bill here.

Read HF 8:

Make public written comment on HF 8:

email the 3 subcommittee House representatives to let them know you support this and want them to vote Yes. (In the subject line say something like YES on HF 8 or vote Yes on HF8) There are two strong Republicans who already support the bill and one

Democrat who is very opposed:

skyler.wheeler@legis.iowa.gov

Attend the subcommittee meeting in person to support HF8 - 12:30pm 2/13/23 Room 19

HF8 prohibits the teaching of gender identity and sexual orientation in k-3 (not enough) - needs to be k-12

Potential Talking points:

* Share your personal experience and any evidence you have, where you have found this being taught in your child’s schools grades K through 8.

* Tell the representatives to extend the bill to grade 12

* Share your thoughts, feelings and knowledge about why gender identity and sexual orientation should not be part of public school education instruction.
